Patrick Trese grew up in the State of Michigan. Mr. Trese graduated from Michigan State University (B.A.) and the University of Detroit Mercy (M.A. and J.D.). Mr. Trese worked in Michigan for the Michigan Attorney General's Office in the Health Care Fraud Unit (Lansing, Michigan). Mr. Trese gained experience as a prosecutor working in the Wayne County (Detroit, Michigan) and Oakland County (Pontiac, Michigan) Prosecutor's Office's. Mr. Trese also served as a law clerk for District Court of Appeals Judge Pat M. Donofrio (Mt. Clemens, Michigan).

In 2001 Mr. Trese relocated to Florida and started working as a prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. In that capacity Mr. Trese handled all types of criminal cases including murder, traffic homicide, and capital sexual battery offenses. During his tenure Mr. Trese served as the Chief of County Court DUI Division. Mr. Trese was responsible for overseeing the prosecution of roughly five thousand DUI cases per year. Mr. Trese also supervised hundreds of prosecutors during his tenure as Chief of the County Court Division. Mr. Trese was responsible for directing the strategy employed by the State Attorney's Office in the area of DUI motion practice. He litigated numerous DUI related issues motions in 11th Circuit County Court Division, the 11th Circuit Circuit Court Division, and at the 3rd District Court of Appeals. Mr. Trese has lectured throughout the State of Florida about a limitless array of DUI related topics. Some of these include: The Uniform Material Witness Act and DUI, the "Source Code" and DUI, and legal challenges to the admissibility of breath, blood, and urine test results. Mr. Trese was also a member of the Traffic Homicide Unit for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. In that capacity he handled some of the most serious DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide cases in Miami-Dade County. Many of his cases appeared on CNN and other media publications around the United States and the internationally. He has also lectured in the context of these types of cases about the admissibility of "forced" blood draws. Mr. Trese received the Prosecution of Distinction Award from Mother's Against Drunk Driving in 2009. Mr. Trese was also a member of the Sexual Battery Unit/Child Abuse Unit for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. He tried numerous serial rapist and capital sexual battery cases during his tenure.

Mr. Trese left the State Attorney's Office in April 2010 to started a new law practice with Teresa Williams. The practice, focusses on both criminal and civil litigation. With over 100 trials and countless hours of motion practice Mr. Trese is a seasoned trial lawyer that has a reputation for being a passionate advocate. Mr. Trese is licensed to practice in state courts in Florida and Michigan. Mr. Trese also practices in federal courts within the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Trese is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the League of Prosecutors, the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Miami-Dade Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
